From state parks to private campgrounds, you can’t beat the scenery and amenities in the Cheboygan Area. Your camping options are limitless in Cheboygan as most of the campgrounds are located on the water which grants  you access to the Inland Waterway and the Great Lakes. Both rustic and high end camping are right here.

Camping in Cheboygan puts you near the center of the historic Straits of Mackinac, Mackinac Island and many more wonderful destinations to experience. You are also minutes away from downtown Cheboygan, your one-stop shop for supplies and a hotbed of friendly people with great places to dine, relax and be entertained, any time of year.

Aloha State Park has 285 modern campsites with two swimming beaches. The swimming beaches have sandy bottoms and have easy incline from the shore. There are three play areas with a softball field, horseshoe pits, basketball and volleyball courts, boat launch and basin that provides a protected harbor for boats of various sizes.

Black Lake Campground/The Bluff’s Resort

Includes a restaurant that is always open until 10:00 pm with great food and drink. Take in the beautiful view of Black Lake from their “deck in the trees”. Relax on rustic wood furniture or shoot a game of pool in the Northwoods. Food & drink features Potato burgers to Sui Mai, cold drinks to hot chocolate; stop in for a casual good time! The campground has both rustic and electric sites overlooking Black Lake’s northeast shore. Central water and shower/bathroom facilities as well as a pump station for your convenience. For your motorized recreational needs their gas pumps have 93 octane at your disposal. 75′ of dockage on Black Lake allows you access by boat. The Bluff’s is located at the trailhead for all of Northeast Michigan’s trails. Open all year during Michigan’s Four Seasons.

Located on 1250 acres, Cheboygan State Park has a system of well-marked trails that provide access to scenic Lake Huron vistas and glimpses of rare wildflowers. Modern camping, rustic cabins, and teepees are all available as well as trout fishing on the Little Billy Elliot Creek and fishing on Duncan Bay. The shallow, sandy beaches of Duncan Bay make Cheboygan State Park a premiere swimming/sunbathing destination and the large pavilion is perfect for picnics and family gatherings.

East Mullett Campground

East Mullett Campground features shaded sites, 28 full hook ups, clean restrooms, hot showers, picnic tables, and a small playground. Campfires are allowed and tents are always welcome. There is fishing, boating, and swimming nearby.

Elkwood Campground

Elkwood Campground is located on 73 acres of rolling woodlands, meadows and wetlands in Northern Michigan’s Elk Country. Elkwood is near the scenic Pigeon River Country. They offer 65 sites and some are limited for seasonal sites, some pull through sites and tenting sites. Most sites have water and electric (including three 50 amp sites) hookups. A ‘honeywagon’ is available as well as a dump station. Enjoy the large pool, recreation room, pavilion, playground, fun bikes, hayrides, horseshoes, basketball, volleyball, and nature trails. Rental units include a 20 foot travel trailer & a 3 bedroom mobile home; call about dates and prices. Leashed pets are welcome, except in the rental units. Seasonal & monthly sites are available.

Haakwood State Forest Campground

Haakwood State Forest Campground features 18 sites available for tents and small trailers to use that are located along the Sturgeon River, the Lower Peninsula’s fastest river. Rustic campground includes vault toilets and potable water from a well hand pump. Sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Home of the Happy Camper. A family oriented rv resort across the street from Mullett Lake, close to Burt Lake with 140 large, shady campsites, of which 85 are pull thru; 65 full service campsites with 50/30 amp; 21 full service campsites with 30 amp; 54 water/electric campsites; nine log camping cabins; tenting area; heated swimming pool; arcade; 100-person pavilion, three bathouses, playground area, volleyball; basketball and horseshoe area. They offer summer, winter and year round storage. Storing your camper includes free placement and removal of your camper.

Maple Bay features 38 sites located on the west side of Burt Lake available for tents and small trailers to use. Excellent boat access and sand beach offer a great way to enjoy Burt Lake. Rustic campground includes vault toilets and potable water from well hand pump. Barrier-free toilets and sites.

Stoney Creek Trail Camp

Group area designed for use by equestrian campers riding the Shore to Shore Riding/Hiking Trail. Non-equestrian campers are welcome. Maximum capacity is for 100 individuals and can accommodate tents and small trailers. Group Trail Camps are available for reservation by calling 989.732.3541, ext. 5445. Rustic campground includes vault toilets and potable water from well hand pump. Red Bridge (5 miles East): 27 miles of motorcycle trail and 5 miles of full size vehicle ORV route.

Newest campground on the inland waterway. They have a scenic site nestled into the shores of the Cheboygan River and offer you a full service campsite, a full service sites boat launch, docking boat rental, modern shower and bath facilities, game room with river view playground, and hiking trails. Location near the M-33 bridge gives you central access on the Inland Waterway as well as a front row seat to the Cheboygan Wanigan Race (see events for details).
