Ready to hike the trails of Appalachia? Join us at the Cheboygan Area Public Library on November 10 at 6 p.m. to hear first-hand from Eric and Shelly Cornish who will be sharing their adventures of hiking the entire Appalachian Trail, which includes covering over two thousand miles of terrain on foot! As shared by the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, the Appalachian Trail is the “longest hiking-only footpath in the world, ranging from Maine to Georgia.” The total length of the trail is 2,194.3 miles, it spans 14 states, and it is visited by more than 3 million visitors each year (appalachiantrail.org). Eric and Shelly will share the real-life realities of completing a thru-hike, from camping along the trail to meeting other hikers along the way. Their program is free to attend and open to the public. If you have ever thought about hiking the Appalachian Trail, this is a great opportunity to start your research and meet some fellow hikers that are willing to share their insight and experiences. And if you have no interest in physically hiking the Trail, this is still an interesting travel adventure that you can enjoy through the experiences of others.
